It’s hard to believe Oklahoma is home to a “mini-desert” that is filled with sand dunes, ranging in height from 25 to 75 feet.

The extensive dunes have formed over time from terrace deposits — remnants of prehistoric times when the Cimarron River flowed over the entire area.

A viewing platform has been built for sightseers who wish to stay out of the dunes. You can walk along the path and enjoy the dunes from the distance or check it out from the zoom binoculars.
