Washington is currently collectively enjoying one big staycation (when we can, anyway). Hopefully, it won’t be long before we’re able to freely move about the state and enjoy the great outdoors once again. When that time comes, stretch your legs and soothe your spirit in nature. We highly recommend checking out the Siouxon Trail this year.
The Siouxon Trail is located near Amboy in Clark County, just south of Mount St. Helens.
Deniese Lang / alltrails.com The town, and the trail, are rural and peaceful.
This is an 8.7-mile round trip hike, so if you haven’t exercised in a while, be aware.
DEMETRIO FLORES / alltrails.com However, the trail is ranked as moderate and is mostly flat, so don’t be afraid to attempt it.
The path takes you over bridges, past creeks, and through beautiful Douglas Firs and Western Red Cedars.
Illya Kray / alltrails.com After all, you’ll be in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
Prepare to enjoy stunning sights like these gorgeous emerald pools.
Zackary Coleman / alltrails.com In fact, some parts may feel like you’re exploring parts of Mexico with their gorgeous cenotes.
Did we mention that you’ll see at least four waterfalls on this trek?
Bryan Levesque / alltrails.com The trail is a paradise for water lovers.
The Siouxon Trail is open all year, but it’s best enjoyed in the summer.
Laurel Jacobson / alltrails.com The snow has melted by then, making the emerald pools nice and full.
To enjoy this hike, make sure you have a Northwest Forest Pass, which costs $5 per day.
Andrew Stamp / alltrails.com You can even bring your dogs with you to explore, as long as they’re leashed (and they do not have to pay).
It won’t be long before we’re all hiking, camping, and enjoying nature again. In the meantime, we hope you’re loving traveling virtually with us. Add this hike to your summer bucket list.
