You won’t just be walking from your car to the shore here. The park is home to a 1/5-mile maritime forest trail.

The forest is a popular resting and feeding area for migrating birds. Black Cherry, Sassafras, Eastern Red Cedar, and American Holly abound in the area.

This park is a favorite among photographers and it has other perks for hikers including restrooms and adjacent restaurants. Kelly’s Old Barney Restaurant is closest and they are open for takeout. There’s also a nearby gift and tackle shop. While the park is open for passive recreation, some amenities, shops, and attractions may be closed. Check out the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection website or call the park office at 609-494-2016 for more details. Be sure to call any restaurant you are interested in visiting as some require reservations.
