With so many awe inspiring things to take photos of here in Alaska, the Eldred Rock Lighthouse still maintains its reputation as a photograph worthy subject. This stalwart lighthouse paints an unforgettable picture against the Chilkat Mountains in the background, and is photographed tens of thousands of times each year from passengers on passing ferries in the Lynn Canal.

Built in 1906, this lighthouse is the last of the twelve manned original lighthouses assembled in Alaska.

It sits on an island that has been the site of shipwrecks in the past.

It was manned by light keepers until 1973.

It’s an incredibly popular spot for photos. In fact, some intrepid adventurists kayak out to this lone island to take photos and post them on their social media accounts!
