Here in Texas, we’re so fortunate to have such a wide variety of landscapes. From rolling plains to towering mountains, the Lone Star State lacks little when it comes to the Great Outdoors. Crockett Gardens Falls is no exception. This tropical oasis is nestled right in a popular Georgetown park!

Hiding in Cedar Breaks Park, Crockett Garden Falls is a 7.7-mile trail that leads through a lush, jungle-like landscape. Despite the distance, it’s a pretty easy hike suitable for kids and leashed dogs.

How fitting is this heart-shaped cactus? Especially since Georgetown isn’t too far from the geographical center of Texas.

About 2.5 miles in, you’ll encounter the falls (which may or may not be flowing based on recent rainfall.) Spilling into Lake Georgetown, this gentle cascade is truly akin to a tropical paradise.

Feel free to head back after spending some time by the water, or keep going and finish out strong. Hiking isn’t the only way to enjoy the trail, by the way! You can run, kayak, and even birdwatch to enjoy different aspects of the scenery.

There’s even a long stretch of beachy shoreline! What doesn’t this trail have? Sink your toes in the sand, close your eyes, and listen to the lapping of the water.
