Drive Through Tallgrass Prairie Preserve For A Great Day Trip In Oklahoma

If so, get the family together and head to Pawhuska to Tallgrass Prairie Preserve – the largest protected remnant of tallgrass prairie left on earth. The Tallgrass Prairie Preserve is home to over 39,000 acres of the largest protected tallgrass prairie in the world.

It is home to a host of wildlife including white-tailed deer, coyotes, and more than 2,000 bison.

There is a Visitor Center and restrooms in the Preserve but please note they are currently closed until further notice due to COVID-19. The good news is, the drive is still open to the public!

Visitors can experience an afternoon prairie picnic, or enjoy the awesome spectacle of an evening sunset in the wide-open spaces.

Enjoy a drive on the scenic route, which takes guests through the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve and through neighboring private ranches. If you take the full drive, you can go as far as 50 miles.
