After a long winter of being stuck inside, we have our hearts set on enjoying some of the best things Maine has to offer this spring and summer. While that might look a bit different this year, there are a few things that look to be re-appearing as planned. Little-by-little drive-in movie theaters are announcing their opening days and we can’t wait to enjoy some entertainment without having to enter a packed theater.

- Bridgton Twin Drive-In Theatre, Bridgton
Bridgton Twin Drive-In Theatre / Facebook This classic drive-in with two different screens is a favorite of folks in the area as well as those who make an annual visit to camp. They’ll be open for the season on May 15th with showings of “Onward” and “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” Check them out on Facebook for more information along with guidelines that will be in place to keep everyone safe.
- Skylite Drive-In, Madawaska
Skylite Drive-In / Facebook Head to one of the furthest corners of the state and you’ll be rewarded with a classic drive-in movie theater experience! While we wait for word on their opening day, we’re thinking about the trees surrounding the movie area and the lovely owners who keep this place humming. Stay tuned to their Facebook page for more information on schedule.

wil hallman / Google The name suggests that you’ll find it in Bangor, but you’ll actually need to head to nearby Herman to enjoy this wonderful drive-in. Set to open for the season on May 15th, you’ll want to check with themfor showtimes and schedule. Then, pack your car with good vibes and enjoy a socially-distanced night out!
- Narrow Gauge Cinemas, Farmington

The season begins May 14th with “Call of the Wild” at 8pm, but be sure to check out their schedule for upcoming shows here. And, we especially love the price. A car of up to 6 people is just $5 and comes with 2 popcorns!
- Skowhegan Drive-In, Skowhegan

The surroundings are beautiful and in the summer, it just smells like Maine in the country. Follow them on Facebook for updates on schedule

Saco Drive-In Theater / Facebook Set to open on May 22nd, this southern Maine drive-in is a favorite among tourists. While the schedule of movies has not yet been released, we’re looking forward to simply enjoying the setting. They’ll be operating a bit differently this season, so be sure to check them out on Facebook for updates.
- Pride’s Corner Drive-In, Westbrook
Prides Corner Drive-In / Facebook After completing some maintenance and regular preparation for the season, this fun spot is scheduled to open in May. Approved by the Governor, the only thing holding them back is the weather. Let’s all hope for the warmth of spring to arrive soon! Keep track of opening plans through their Facebook page.
If you could see any movie at a drive-in this summer, what would it be? We’d have to go with Ghostbusters, one of the best summer blockbusters ever released! And if simply taking in the scenery of the state is enough of a show for you, we have a great summer destination in mind for you. Voted one of the best beaches in the country, Gooch’s Beach in Maine is a gorgeous bucket list spot.
