Oklahoma might not have the peaks of the Rocky Mountains or the craggy coasts of New England, but those who spend their time here know that we have our own special features that make us…us. From forests to lakes, there’s plenty to do if you love the outdoors. And one of our favorite things is this fun (and simple!) hike to one of the most impressive waterfalls you’ll see.

To experience one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the state, you’ll want to make your way to Natural Falls State Park in West Siloam Springs. Located in the Ozark Highlands the park is home to one of the tallest waterfalls in the state.

Following Highway 412 you’ll reach the sign indicating you’ve arrived. Hooray! There are a number of activities you can do in the park, but you’ll want to head straight for the entrance to the Dripping Springs Trail start.

This looped trail is just about one mile round trip, making it easy on little legs. And, while some trails boast views of trees, this one includes all sorts of different things to see.

Kids love the many streams, creeks, wildlife and (in the autumn!) colorful foliage that exist all around the trail.

In addition to the things around the trail, the trail itself is a fun experience. In addition to flat land, the route includes bridge boardwalks that allow visitors to see the land below.

Eventually you’ll arrive at the 77-foot tall Natural Falls, which is considered the second tallest in the state.

The water flows over rocks and lands in a beautifully blue natural pool. This v-shaped valley is unique and has a tropical-feel.

This is a wonderful activity any time of year, but in the summer the shade will help you stay cool.

You can expect views from above the falls if you travel on the main route. But if you’d like to see the waterfall from below, head down the 88 steps to the lower level.

But be aware that these are quite steep and taking this portion makes the trail a bit more challenging.
