Few places of business in North Carolina reach a centennial mark but it’s just around the corner for Dick’s Hot Dog Stand, a locally owned family business found in the Tar Heel State. Dick’s has been serving up delicious hot dogs for 99 years and folks who’ve had them will admit it’s hard to stop with one.
An easy spot to reach if you’re traveling on I-95, Dick’s is a mere six-mile jaunt off the highway over to Wilson where Dick’s sits on NC-58/Nash Street N.

Wilson’s population has grown five fold since Dick’s first opened but the restaurant’s popularity has remained intact over the past century. The eatery’s modest signage claims it’s a landmark — but at 100 years, Dicks is more of a second home to those who’ve grown up in Wilson.

About the dogs… they come in three varieties: Dick’s Famous Dog, the Cheese Dog, and the Super Dog, which is a quarter pounder all the way with mustard, onions, and Dick’s famous chili.

The menu features six different burgers as well as other sandwiches and subs. It even includes plate specials like a hamburger or cheeseburger steak, hot roast pork, and chicken tenders, to name a few. And don’t forget the sides: French fries, onion rings, cole slaw, cheese fries, salad, chili cheese fries, or a tray of pickles!
