Deciding where to settle down in the later stages of life is no easy decision. U.S. News compiled a list of the best places to retire in 2020, and Dallas-Fort Worth scored the #10 spot. Here’s why:
Although the average age of the Dallas-Fort Worth population is about 35, it’s still a great place for seniors looking to settle down. In fact, U.S. News rated the metroplex #10 on a list of cities to retire in 2020.

An online survey asked just over 2,500 people aged 45 or older about their retirement preferences, and the answers were used to formulate the list. Housing affordability, happiness, desirability, retiree taxes, the job market, and access to quality health care are among the metrics used.

Within the market, fifteen percent of the DFW population is 60 or older. When you consider over seven million people live in the metroplex, that’s actually a significant chunk!

Among seniors, the median home price is $165,200. The average monthly mortgage cost is $1620, and rent averages $1022.
