The beach is one of Virginia’s most beautiful natural attractions. Yet sometimes, Virginia’s beaches can be a little crowded, especially during the warmer months. Fortunately, there are a handful of secluded stretches of coastline where you won’t be overwhelmed by the crowds. One such example is Croatan Beach. Technically part of Virginia Beach, this scenic destination is relatively unheard of and will make you feel like you’ve discovered your own little slice of paradise.
At the southern end of Virginia Beach awaits a coastline that’s a little hard to find, but definitely worth the search. Croatan Beach is three-quarters of a mile long and stretches from Camp Pendleton to Rudee Inlet.
The area has historically been popular among surfers and features two designated surfing spots. The beach is beloved among Virginia Beach residents and is considered the be the local beach. When you visit, you’ll pay just $5 for an all-day parking pass.

The shoreline is a bit more rugged than what you’ll find on the rest of the beach, but this only adds to its uniqueness.

The facilities are minimal, with a few bathrooms and outdoor showers. But you won’t feel like you need much more than this beautiful view!

If you’re really looking for a secluded beach experience, you can try arriving just as the sun rises. There are few things more beautiful than watching the sky erupt in color from a private stretch of beach.
