There’s a reason that Disney World does a booming business: because millions of us want to step into our very own fairytale. Newsflash! You don’t have to travel all the way to Florida to visit a magical land – we have them right here in West Virginia.

And one of our favorite roads to happily ever after is the one that leads directly to Coopers Rock State Forest.

Kate Illinois1/Tripadvisor This state park is located off of Interstate 68 near Cheat Lake.

There’s so much to do and see once you arrive.

Leah Stankus/Tripadvisor You can take a beautiful stone trail through the trees…

…to a magnificent table rock atop a huge cliff…

…complete with a stunning view of the surrounding mountains.

Ildaesusa/Tripadvisor Soaking in this view that goes on for miles is a magical experience all by itself, but the fun features of this park don’t end here.

You can also stroll through giant boulder fields that form caves, channels, and crevices of rock that are just begging to be explored.

Maui/Tripadvisor Try the Rattlesnake Trail or the Rock City Trail. Or you can do rock climbing at the Sunset Wall Climbing Area!

You might even stumble across some of the magical creatures you’d most likely meet in a storybook.

TheHighwayWarrior/Tripadvisor They make an appearance every now and again, but they’re a little shy, so you never quite know which ones you’ll see on your next visit.

No matter how you choose to spend your time at Coopers Rock State Forest, you’ll be glad you came. It may not be a real fairy tale, but it is Almost Heaven, and any day you spend here, at least, promises a happy ending!
