Three cheers for spring! We’re heading into what just what might be the prettiest season of the year, one that’s brimming with fun events and activities. For some Missourians, spring doesn’t officially start until they visit the Valley of Flowers Festival in Missouri, a tradition that dates back nearly six decades. If you’ve not been yet, add it to your calendar.

Billed as the “First Festival of Spring,” The Valley of Flowers Festival in Florissant has been an annual tradition since 1963. The three day festival is set for May 1-3, 2020.

A carnival on the Duchesne Home Association Grounds, beginning Thursday evening, April 30, at 5 p.m. and running through Sunday. Climb aboard carnival rides; play traditional carnival games, and eat a ton of good food at the carnival.

That, of course, is just the start of all of the fun. Stop by the Children’s Celebration of Performing Arts at the James J. Eagan Center on Friday and Saturday.

Join the kiddos for performances of Nino the Clown of Zoppe Family Circus, Kincaid Karacter Puppets, and Dr. Gravity.

The Eagan Center will also host a full menu of other activities and events, including the Gardeners of Florissant Plant Sale, the Craft and Vendor Fair, the Food Vendor Rows, and the Pretty Baby Photo Contest.

One of the highlights of the weekend, the Grand Parade sets off from the Eagan Center at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday. Festival organizers advise guests to arrive early to snag good seats.

Following the parade, parade-goers will gather for the crowning of the Valley of Flowers Queen and Court at Duchesne Home Association Pavilion.
