Have you ever noticed that your wanderlust tends to really work overtime during the summer? After all, the beautiful weather makes the idea of getting out and exploring just so much more appealing. Even if you don’t have the time or the funds to travel very far, you’ll find an abundance of fun ways to help cure that wanderlust. You might, for example, want to check into a yurt in Missouri for a unique adventure that’s not too far from home.

Pomme de Terre State Park, in Pittsburg, provides an ideal backdrop for a leisurely getaway, whether you want to spend the night or a few nights.

After the sun goes down, you’ll find no better place to fall asleep than in one of the yurts that you can rent any time of the year. (If you like camping in the winter, you’ll probably love staying in a yurt.)

Three yurts are available for rent at Pomme de Terre State Park, with two of them welcoming dogs. Before you make your reservation, however, make sure you know what to expect from this unique camping experience.

A yurt is similar to a tent, although it sits on a platform and has a door you can lock. Each yurt at the state park also features three windows and a skylight, providing you with an abundance of natural light.

You’ll also enjoy such comforts of home as air conditioning, heat, a mini fridge, and a lamp. With a log futon and log bunk beds, the yurt comfortably sleeps up to five people.

You might have noticed there’s no mention of running water in the yurt. There is no running water, and you’ll have to use a modern restroom with showers during camping season. Off-season, guests use a vault toilet.

You’ll pack just like you would for a normal camping adventure, including such necessities as a sleeping bag or blankets, and everything you need to make a meal on the outdoor grill.
