There’s nothing special about a trip to the grocery store; it’s a task most of us do at least once a week, and we typically try to get through it as quickly as possible. There’s one store in Oregon where grocery shopping is a whole lot more fun. At three of the Market of Choice locations, you can buy your groceries, then stop by the Market Fill Station to get a glass of beer or wine, or have a growler filled. Check it out:
Market of Choice grocery got its start in 1979 with a small store in Cottage Grove called “Thriftway Market.” Over the years, it added more stores and changed its name in 2000.
Market of Choice/Facebook Today, you’ll find 10 Market of Choice grocery stores in Ashland, Bend, Corvalis, Eugene (four stores) Portland (two stores), and West Linn.
All of the Market of Choice locations offer tons of fresh produce, quality meat and seafood, a huge array of grocery items, and custom bakeries.

Each store also offers a beer and wine section unlike any other. They’re staffed by knowledgeable beer and wine stewards who can help you select the perfect wine for a dinner party, and can recommend the best local beers for your taste.

Three of the Market of Choice stores also offer something unique: Market Fill Stations. When you shop at the Belmont and Cedar Mills stores in Portland, or the store in Bend, you can stop by for a glass of wine or beer, or get a growler filled.

Each of the three Market Fill Stations offer a hand-picked selection of 12 beers on tap. These aren’t just any beers - they’re limited-release, hard-to-find brews that are typically only around for a short time.

The list of beers on tap is different at each Market Fill Station, and they change frequently.

Sit up to the bar and try something new! Most beers are offered in a 16 ounce glass, with a few available in a smaller, 5 ounce tasting glass. You can also have a 32-ounce crowler or 64-ounce growler filled.

You’ll also find a small selection of special ciders and wines to try. Since each of the three fill stations has a different menu of beers, wines, and ciders, you might want to spread your shopping out to include more than one location!

The offerings at the Market Fill Stations are only available for a limited time, so you’ll want to stop by frequently to see what’s new.
Market of Choice/Facebook Market of Choice stores are open daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. (the Eugene location on Franklin Road is open til midnight).
