Burton Island State Park is a restful retreat that truly shuts out the rest of the world.
Located on Lake Champlain off the southwestern tip of St. Albans Point, Burton Island State Park is a 253-acre island oasis. Accessible only by boat, you’ll be forced to leave your vehicle behind and really “rough it” during your stay.

The passenger ferry will bring you and your camping buddies and all your gear from Kamp Kill Kare State Park straight to the island. It’s just a short ten-minute jaunt across the water and the ferry runs several times each day.

If you have your own boat, you can navigate yourself and park in the island marina. Bicycles and your own two feet are the methods of transportation once you arrive on the island.

Choose from 14 campground tent sites, 26 lean-to sites, 4 remote tent sites, or 3 cabins. Reservations must be made in advance to camp on the island.

With three miles of shoreline on the island, many of the campsites have an amazing waterfront view. Settle in and stow your gear before you start exploring this gorgeous island.

There are two interpretive nature trails for hiking. Stop by the nature center and museum to learn even more about the island.

The lakefront offers exciting opportunities for swimming, kayaking, fishing, and just splashing around. The park staff also coordinates activities like night hikes, games, nature crafts, and other engaging activities.

Bring you bikes to buzz around the island easier. You’ll be happy to discover that the park has restroom facilities with coin-operated showers for your convenience.
