There are plenty of things by now that you may be aware of when it comes to skills that Buffalonians have mastered, like how to make the perfect wing and how to track down Western New York’s best hidden gems. As much as we love to highlight all of the positive things that our Queen City residents are great at, every now and then it’s good to acknowledge a flaw or to as well. With that said, it’s time to talk about how residents of the city of Buffalo were recently named some of the worst drivers in the country. See for yourself:
According to a recent study put together by Allstate, those of us who are living in the city of Buffalo are among some of the worst drivers in the country. Uh-oh!

The study took a look at the country’s 200 largest cities, and Buffalo was ranked 148th when it came to being a city with the best drivers.

Unfortunately, Buffalo dropped down four spots from the previous year, so statistically speaking, our driving isn’t improving. Let’s take a look at what information landed Buffalo so low on this list.

According to Allstate, a correlation between hard braking and collision frequency was discovered among drivers, so one of the things that study looked at was the number of hard-braking events per 1,000 miles.

While the average U.S. driver will experience 19 hard-braking events every 1,000 miles, those who are driving in Buffalo have a slightly higher chance of hard-braking, with a score of 26.6 hard-braking events.

Also including the fact that the average number of years between collisions in Buffalo is only 7.9 years and that your relative collision likelihood is at 33.8%, all of these factors lead to Buffalo being named one of the worst cities to drive in during 2019. Do you agree with this information?
