They may not be as high as the Rockies, but the Sawtooth Mountains in northern Minnesota are well worth seeing. Carlton Peak is a low mountain in the Sawtooth Mountain Range of northern Minnesota. It rises 924 feet above Lake Superior, making it one of the most standout peaks in the area.

The trail up the mountain is easily accessible from Highway 61. Park at Temperance River State Park and take the Superior Hiking Trail to the peak. You can also park at the Britton Peak trailhead off of Cook County Road 2.
