This short hike will take you along natural beauty that rivals some of the best in the state, and the best part is, you don’t have to hike for hours and hours to enjoy it. Jed Johnson Tower Trail is a 1.1-mile trail, out-and-back, that is lightly trafficked in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.

It takes about an hour round-trip to enjoy the hike. There is a dirt path mixed with a little rocky terrain, but don’t worry, it’s not very difficult to navigate.

The trail is primarily used for hiking and running and takes you along Lake Jed Johnson and out to the tower overlooking the lake.

This short hike offers stunning views in every direction and is a great way to see the mountains of southern Oklahoma. There is a 62-foot elevation gain that gives the hike a slight incline.
