This charming Door County coffee shop is called Base Camp; the decor in the shop includes canoes on the walls and stickers from around the world. This little spot is where Joel Kersebet, who went to culinary school back home in France and whose parents ran a restaurant and bar for nearly 40 years, gets to play. His background in French pastry is on full display in this shop that was meant to serve a warm-up for cross-country skiers and snow-shoers.
Pretty much everything about Base Camp is unassuming. It’s around the side and in the basement of the couple’s outdoor adventure store. The sign just says coffee shop and gives no hints to the true delightful treasures that hide within.
