Located in the tiny Pueblo County town of Rye is the jaw-dropping Bishop Castle, which is billed as being an “inspiring castle built entirely by one man.”

Reaching an impressive 160 feet tall, owner Jim Bishop has been adding onto this majestic structure since 1969, which he — minus a few family and friends along the way — has done nearly all on his own.

After buying the land for only $450, Bishop began building a small cottage for his family, which quickly expanded after he received comments from neighbors about how the stones made the home look like a castle.

In addition to its incredible exterior, Bishop Castle also boasts an intricate interior that consists of everything from stained glass to bridges and iron-wrought stairs.

What is a castle without a fire breathing dragon? Bishop Castle has one of those, too — constructed entirely of discarded stainless steel warming plates!
