New Jersey has some gorgeous state parks but Round Valley Recreation Area has to be one of my favorites. Located in Clinton Township, the heart of the park is the reservoir but it’s more than just beautiful beaches…
The park is a peaceful place with spectacular scenery.

The reservoir, formed in 1960, is a dark green, teal blue, and a variety of other hues. It mirrors the sky above! Given the right conditions, it can appear clear, with 20-foot visibility.

Visitors to the park can enjoy outdoor activities all year long from hiking to swimming to kayaking to camping!

It’s a favorite among fishermen (and women) but it does have a bit of a dark history. Drownings are all too frequent, in comparison to other state parks.

It’s very important to follow boating guidelines and wear a life jacket!

You can also avoid the water entirely and enjoy the trails and overlooks!

Whatever you decide to do when you visit, you’ll be surrounded by natural beauty. In the meanwhile, check out this stunning drone footage! It highlights the beauty of this gorgeous Garden State from above.
