- Cowley State Fishing Lake — Arkansas City
Elizabeth Martin/Google Who doesn’t love a good waterfall? It doesn’t matter to us that it comes off of a lake, because that just means more fun!
- Table Mound Trail — Independence
Granger Meador/Flickr This beautiful trail is long and rocky, and full of beautiful tunnels and scenery. Exploring here will be a little tiring, but the beauty is more than worthwhile.
- Little Jerusalem Badlands — Oakley
Jimmy Emerson, DVM/Flickr These badlands used to be the floor of an inland sea, but we love to see them. Explore the newly opened state park with ease on the path through the rocks, and see how beautiful Niobrara chalk can be.
- Mushroom Rock State Park — Brookville
Lane Pearman/Flickr Speaking of beautiful rocks, these giant mushroom shaped rocks are a treat to visit. They’re larger than they seem in person, but we love them all the same!
- Bourbon State Fishing Lake — Uniontown
Mark Alexander/Google A great waterfall to visit, this fishing lake is just as great as Cowley. Two waterfalls are better than one!
- Baker Wetlands — Lawrence
Patrick Emerson/Flickr Did you know Kansas has wetlands? This area around Lawrence is truly beautiful, whether you get a sunset reflection or not. The wildlife is worth every moment.
- Four State Lookout — White Cloud
RubyT/Flickr Have you ever wanted to see multiple states at the same time, except from up high? At this spot in Kansas, you’ll have the ease of looking over states from Kansas. However, we can only verify three states, we’d like to hope you can see the fourth as well.
- Rock City — Minneapolis
valoisem/Flickr These giant rocks were left behind when a much larger rock washed away and left them behind. However, this is one rock formation you’re encouraged to touch! Climb, take photos, and enjoy these spherical stones in Kansas.
- Horsethief Trail, Kanopolis Lake State Park — Marquette
Vincent Parsons/Flickr Hiking around the Kanopolis area is gorgeous, but this cave on the Horsethief Trail is one spot you won’t want to miss. It’s great to sit in for a while to take a break!
