Let’s have fun today, PA! Life’s certainly thrown a huge curve ball at us the last few weeks, which means a whole lot of us are now in quarantine. Whether we’re isolated or not, most of us are dealing with stress daily. So, today, let’s take a lighthearted peek at the eight things every Pennsylvanian has in their fridge and pantry during quarantine.
- Toilet paper, bread, and milk.
Flickr/Bart You’ve got this, PA! We’ve been practicing for this every winter for years, so we’re all good. Every time the local weatherperson forecasts snow – whether it’s an inch or a foot – everyone descends upon the grocery stores and big box shops to stock up on toilet paper, bread, and milk.
- Snacks, snacks, snacks
Flickr/Diehl As residents of the Snack Food Capital of the World, we are pretty much obligated to have our pantries stocked with snacks. We’ll have plenty of time, after all, to munch on such popular PA snacks as Martin’s Potato Chips, Turkey Hill Ice Cream, and Herr’s pretzels, chips, and other goodies.
- Chocolate
Flickr/Joy Sure, we might have to hide our stockpile of chocolate from the kiddos, but we’re going to need it. What would a quarantine be without a sufficient supply of gobs and Hershey’s chocolate?
- Pierogis
Flickr/stu_spivack Pierogis really do deserve consideration as one of the state foods, don’t you think? Now is the perfect time to learn how to make pierogis from scratch. Or, we can just cook the frozen ones stocked in our freezer.
- Chipped Chopped Ham
Flickr/Steve Wertz A good sandwich can really fill us up and take our mind off of things. If you don’t have everything you need to make a good, old-fashioned hoagie, you can’t go wrong with a chipped ham sandwich.
- Lebanon Bologna
Flickr/Kent Wang Lebanon Bologna’s another Pennsylvania staple – just like peanut butter and jelly. What’s your favorite Lebanon Bologna recipe?
- Beer/Wine
Flickr/ Navin Rajagopalan All liquor stores in Pennsylvania have shuttered for the time being, but most Pennsylvanians stocked up beforehand. If you’ve run out of alcohol, you might be able to find it at select grocery stores in PA.
Don’t have alcoholic beer? Then surely you have the birch beer, a PA favorite. It’s a definite must during quarantine.
